It’s never too late in life to do a good dead. That’s something we baby boomers should be mindful of as we age. John Breen, a baby boomer and computer programmer from Bloomington, Indiana is doing his part and offering the opportunity for all of us to join in.

The 51-year-old father has created a unique way to allow each and every one of us to help stamp out world hunger—and to get a little more education in the process. Visitors to his FreeRice.com website are presented with a word and four definitions. If a user selects the correct definition, FreeRice.com donates 20 grains of rice through to the United Nations.

In an interview with Breen, he told me he created the website in October 2007 to help his son study for the SAT and to also send a message about the seriousness of world hunger. “As human beings we don’t need to have hunger in the world,” says Breen who started raising awareness of world hunger with his first website Poverty.com in January 2007.

So if you want to do a good deed and build your vocabulary, go to FreeRice.com right now.

And thanks to BDN Diva Melodieann Whiteley for doing her good deed and sharing this with her fellow Divas!
