READ THE BOOK THAT COST ME MY TELEVISION NEWS JOB!!!
My News Director once told me “Women who behave don’t make history!” so I guess I was behaving quite badly when I walked off the job to pursue my dream of publishing my first book.
I spent my last day in a television newsroom on March 26, 2006 because I chose to publish my book: Whatever! A Baby Boomer’s Journey Into Middle Age. Instead of supporting my dreams, my employer tried to stifle them. I could see if I was writing an expose’ on the news business but the book was all about MENOPAUSE and growing older. And to make matters worse, the General Manager tried to block my collecting unemployment benefits but the Dept. of Employment Security ruled in MY favor.
Now, I personally think the situation would’ve had a different result if I had been a different person but that’s a decision they’ll have to live with–NOT ME.
From Now until July 25, I am offering this book, originally priced at $12.95 plus shipping, for a discounted rate of just $10.00!!! That’s right–and I will include shipping and handling. Get your autographed copy now and draw your own conclusions.
Whatever! gives the reader an humorous, yet reflective look at growing older and all of the trials and triumphs that come with the experience. With great candor and wit, Mahone also discusses her own battles with weight gain, divorce and dating again as a single parent; the complex dynamics of being an “older worker” in a youth obsessed society and shifting career gears.
Renowned author, poet and professor, Nikki Giovanni has endorsed Ms. Mahone’s book calling it “…the right story at the right time.”
More reviews of Whatever! A Baby Boomer’s Journey Into Middle Age“This book is a page turner!!! I enjoyed the realness of the Author and the fact that she didn’t dance around the issue with a lot of ‘psycho-babble’. She was straightforward and humorous.”

Beverly Mahone’s new book, Whatever, offers a fresh and humorous look at something folks like myself never thought we’d have to deal with–midlife and menopause. Seems like those of us who were born in the prime of the baby boomer years, didn’t think that the 70s would end, we’d grow up, and one day turn into…yikes…our parents. A delightful read, with great insights, and Scriptures to aid in this journey.”

“This book was both informative and funny. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. I laughed a lot because I remembered you calling me about that lady at the gym. (Smile) This was an excellent book. You are truly a talented writer. I will be suggesting this book at my next book club meeting.”
“Beverly Mahone speaks about her life as an emerging baby boomer – reading the book is almost like being in the same room with her! She jokes about hot flashes, worries about her daughter, and shares her story of new-found love. A good read, the book also offers readers tips that helped Beverly get through some of the transitions in her life. Enjoy!”

“I just wanted to say – that the book is awesome – I read it on yesterday in a few hours. – this book is one that once you pick it up you can’t just put it down…. I can truly identify with you with the dwarfs – raising the child as a single parent – being married, divorced the mama’s beating and all. All I could do was smile because we sound soooooo much alike.”
“I have read the first five chapters and have chuckled a lot. Because I am a few years older than you are, you know that I can relate well to what is in the book. As I read the passages, I can hear you saying this stuff. Some of it is just too funny, though true.”
“WHATEVER!! is timely for those of us in the New Baby Buddy club!!! I felt as if I was having a conversation over tea with a girlfriend about life’s adventures!!! I could definitely relate to working for people younger than me over the years. Beverly’s style is sooo refreshing and I look forward to more of her perspective on the various evolutions of “I Am Woman”. Keep roaring Beverly, loud for all to hear!!! Your friend in Delaware!!!

You don’t have to be over 40 to buy Beverly’s book. But if you are over 40 you should definitely get your hands on this book. It is funny and so recognizable. I read it in two days. And that is two days of just a little bit of reading before turning of the bedside light. I would have read it in ONE day if my eyes were not so heavy the first night… Beverly, thank you for signing my book. This copy will be cherished by me. I really enjoyed reading it and will definitely buy more copies when I need a present for one of my friends ;-)

“Beverly Mahone has done it again — written a great book! She’s managed to capture exactly what Baby Boomers are going through with facts and humor. It’s an excellent book, and I would encourage everyone to purchase the book “Whatever”! Baby Boomers and those getting ready to go through the menopause phase — and even those in the work force should purchase this book for personal knowledge, and most of all, to see the power of God’s hand move on His anointed ones.”
