Meet Featured Diva Linda Alexander

What challenges are you facing as a woman in business during the downturn in the economy?

I’m challenged to figure out how to encourage folks that they do need that book, that book I’ve written, if for no reason other than to allow themselves a break from the realities of their own economic struggles. Books are relatively inexpensive mental health tools. Good, smart and, yes, economical promotions are the smartest move I can make in this current environment.

What advice would you offer to others who are facing similar challenges?

Be creative in your ideas and business decisions. Don’t ever let negativity take hold. There is always an answer, and you can help others by helping yourself. We’re all in this together in one way or another.

Do you recommend change at midlife? Why or why not? And in what areas?

I most definitely do recommend change at midlife if it is planned and well-organized. Don’t jump into something you haven’t researched, qualified, and green-lighted. Consider your strengths and move forward into something you’ve wanted to do all your life, but for whatever reason, never did . . . until now.

If you were granted three wishes, what would they be?

1.      a never-ending stream of chocolate which wouldn’t add pounds

2.      a fully-equipped and decorated shiny silver Airstream trailer to travel the country, and the freedom to go wherever, whenever

3.      always a new publishing contract, better than the last, right around the corner

Tell us three things about you that make you great at what you do in your business.

I’m strong in my people skills. I do tend to listen, listen, listen, and not make rash decisions. This serves me well. And since I am so people-oriented, I am able to write from the heart—from my heart, yes, but also from the heart of the true-life stories of the people I write about . . . sort of a spirit transference.
