Meet Featured Diva Robin Thomas
What is the name of your business and a description of what you do?
Through my business called The Healthy Edge, I empower others to take steps that improve and maintain their health and the health of their family through entertaining and informative videos, empowering audios, accountability and coaching.
I am also a USANA Health Sciences associate. As a Health and Wellness consultant I help clients understand the value of high quality nutritional products from USANA and help them have a great experience on the products.
How much has your business direction changed in the past five years and why?
I have been moving towards a holistic approach to health coaching, educating others about the seven dimensions of wellness through articles, videos, and a strong social media presence. I am focusing on empowering boomer women to take charge of their own health as well as their personal growth through a business where helping others is key.
What advice do you have for women who are trying to grow their businesses?
Much of growing a business has to do with self-growth. Educate yourself not only on the nuts and bolts of business, but on how you envision yourself and others. Stretch out of your comfort zone one step at a time, and you will be amazed at yourself and your abilities.
What do you know now that you wished you knew 10 years ago as it relates to business?
Ten years ago I knew nothing about being in business. The best advice I could have had then is for someone to honestly guide me through the early pitfalls, encouraging me to keep moving forward. That it is perfectly fine to falter, as only then do we grow and succeed. If you don’t take a chance, a leap towards your dreams, then you will never know how far you can go.

Meet Featured Diva Regina Baker
What is the name of your business and a description of what you do?
Computerize U2. I create strategic plans and teach offline small businesses how to merge your business online and help online businesses how to create an offline presence.
How much has your business direction changed in the past five years and why?
Considerably! It was time for me to step out do what I thoroughly enjoy doing — teaching. I was sort of stuck for 6 years doing something I know how to do (to pay the bills), opposed to doing what I LOVE to do.
What advice do you have for women who are trying to grow their businesses?
Align yourself with someone you can relate to, a person who will grab your attention and you feel comfortable ‘learning’ from. Be authentic and focus on the things that are most important to your customer/client. Last but surely not least, sincerely pray for direction and be anxious for nothing! Stand and have faith that you can do it regardless of the way things may appear. God made room for your gift, why else would He have given it to you? :)
What do you know now that you wished you knew 10 years ago as it relates to business?
Wisdom. More wisdom to know what’s right instead of what ‘looks good’ and popular. (Things are not always as they appear.)

Add Video to Your Marketing Strategy
In case you haven’t heard, Boomer Diva Nation is taking the plunge into the world of video marketing. On Thursday, July 23, BDN will launch BoomerDivaTV.com. Our new internet network will feature the talented women inside BDN. We have small business owners, entrepreneurs, best-selling authors, virtual assistants, marketing strategists, photographers, life coaches, health and fitness experts and we even have someone who can cook as good as, if not better than, Rachel Ray, so why shouldn’t we showcase them?
BoomerDivaTV.com is a part of a hot new trend sweeping the Internet today. Savvy Internet marketers are integrating short videos into all of their media such as their Web site, blogs, and in some cases even e-mails. These entrepreneurs are using videos to replace long-form sales copy, because it is more appealing, and tends to retain a person’s interest longer. Instead of copy that runs on for several thousand words, most current website copy is limited to a few short paragraphs, and then supported by and integrated with one or several video clips.
The reason for this is simple – videos are an effective way of communicating a marketing message. Because the video is essentially interactive, it tends to capture the viewers’ attention more thoroughly than does displaying written copy. For convenience, the viewer can start and stop the video as necessary, but if it is compelling and interesting, they will remain engaged.
The other obvious aspect of a video is that it allows a viewer to see the person who is promoting the message. As opposed to written copy where the reader has no idea as to who the author is or what the author is all about, a video enables the viewer to get a sense of the person on the other side. Particularly if the person featured in the video is adept at speaking on camera, they can go a long way to establishing the all-important credibility and rapport that is so necessary in a sales situation.
As a woman in business, I encourage you to consider video marketing and come join us at Boomer Diva Nation so we can showcase your talent and expertise.

Meet Featured Diva Shirley Mitchell
What advice do you have for women who want to understand how to make social media work for them?
Networking is great on the Internet. Search the web for the Social Media that fits your needs, personalities and your desires. Learn the techniques of linking your websites to the people who will benefit your business, and you their’s. Write Articles and Press Releases – Post these on your Websites and BLOGS, and place them with Press Release Companies On-Line. I have met many of my Social Networking Friends while going to Author Signings or Speaking Events, and some of them have even been on my Radio Shows. Send E-Mail and make comments on their Social page. Put your Social Site Page links on all your Websites and BLOGS, and in your E-Mail as part of your Signature.
What’s your favorite social media site and why?
I actually have two that are neck and neck – ShoutLife! and Growing Bolder… ShoutLife! is a Christian Social Site full of Faith, and Growing Bolder emphasizes the fact that we are not Growing Older but BOLDER! Their positive spin on aging is contagious. I love the audio and video. Both Sites let you add your Photos, Bio, BLOGS, Events, Audio, Video, E-Mail and more! And the members are Fabulous ! I like Sites that tell the whole story when you first go on them, so that you don’t have to click on something several times or “Sign-In” to view the complete information.
Are their any new projects you’re working on that you’d like the general public to know about?
I am working on 5 new books. My Sixth Book should be out by years end or the first of next year – it will be the “Third Book” in my “Aging Trilogy” for the 70 Year Olds! – it follows “Fabulous after 50®-Finding Fulfillment for Tomorrow” and “Sensational after 60®-Loving Life All Over Again”, and my Second book is being Re-Published as well and should be out in the same time period. I am working on a Children’s book, a Gift book, another type of Aging book, and a Novel. We are expanding our Website System and adding more Stations to our Syndicated Radio Show. We are also getting more venues trademarked.
How can someone get in touch with you?
