The Best Cities to Live, Work & Play
Today Kiplinger.com released its Top Ten Best Cities to Live, Work & Play.
They say their approach to picking the ten best cities in which to live and work was simple. They looked for places with strong economies and abundant jobs, reasonable living costs and plenty of fun things to do.
These type of surveys are OK but they could provide a little more information. For example: Out of the Best Cities, only one of them boasts a female Mayor? She’s Heather Fargo from Sacramento. She’s a baby boomer, who has been Mayor since 2001. Another thing: Out of the 1,193 cities with populations over 30,000 there are 187 women Mayors.
Did your favorite city make the list?
1) Houston
2) Raleigh (NC)—a big surprise to me!
3) Omaha
4) Boise
5) Colorado Springs
6) Austin
7) Fayetteville (don’t know if this is NC or Arkansas—either way, it’s another shocker!)
Sacramento
9) Des Moines
10) Provo
According to Kiplinger list, Sacramento, Des Moines and Fayetteville have had the largest income growth since 2000. The median household income ranges from $42,000 to just under $57,000.
